Roman Catholicism - Idolatry With a Christian Veener

What has continued to amaze me as I study Romanism is how closely it is aligned in many issues with the godless and liberal elements in society today. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati (Ohio) in it's "What Does It Mean To Be Catholic" section of it's website states:

"Crucifixes, medals, statues of Jesus and our favorite saints, candles, incense, holy water, rosaries and many other objects play a significant role in enriching our faith. These are sacred objects and signs that help put us in touch with God."

To assign an inanimate object as being a "sacred object" is the height of idol worship. This would seem to be, on the face of it, old fashioned Romanist idolatry - and it is! But it's also an attitude shared by earth worshippers, witch doctors, liberal environmentalists, and animists - that God can be found in that tree, that rock, that babbling brook, etc.

This is why it's easy for the pope of Rome to have good relations with the politically correct Dalai Lama, American Indian Medicine men, and so on.

But what does Jesus say about this? He says in John 4:24, "GOD IS A SPIRIT: AND THEY THAT WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH." Notice Jesus says, "MUST", it's not an option. I have a choice here - to believe the Archbishop of Cincinnati or Jesus Christ. I'll take Jesus Christ.
