"Mr. Bosco...Dream Me a Dream"

Since Roman Catholicism rejects the BIBLE as the sole authority on faith, Rome therefore has to seek other ways to "teach" it's flock in times of trouble. After the September 11 attacks, one such way Catholics are being taught are by the dreams that Catholics are having, and better yet, the dreams of saints!

Penny and Bob Lord (yes, that's their last name) are a Catholic wife and husband team that scour the world for such experiences, one of which is documented in their fall, 2001 newsletter, 'Good Newsletter,' in an article titled, "The Twin Towers and the Two Columns."

The article recounts a dream the 19th century Italian "Saint" John Bosco had. John Bosco (1815-1888) was an Italian priest who started the Roman "Salesian" order. Bosco was famous for his dreams, which began when he was nine years old. He was so well known for dreaming that in 1867, Christ's "personal representative on earth", Pope Pius IX, was so impressed that he asked Bosco to write down in detail what his dreams were!

In this dream, Bosco sees two flotillas of wooden ships engaged in battle. One flotilla has a flagship commanded by the pope, and the pope's flotilla is trying to reach two classic Greek style columns that somehow are standing out in the middle of the ocean. (Ed. note - do you get the analogy? Two columns and the two towers.)

In a picture accompanying the article, one column is 50 feet high, and has a statue of Mary on top with an inscription, "Help of Christians." The other column is about 75 feet high, and has a 10 foot wide Roman eucharistic wafer standing on edge on top with the inscription, "Salvation of believers."

The dream continues, "Standing at the helm (of the flagship), the pope strains every muscle to steer his ship between the two columns from whose summits hang many anchors..." I must admit, the thought of John Paul II straining himself at the helm of a wooden ship seems a bit humorous - I can just picture the silken papal robes flapping in the wind as the pope struggles to stay awake!

(For some of our readers, the poem 'Casabianca' may come to mind: "The boy stood on the burning deck, Whence all but he had fled; The flame that lit the battle's wreck, Shone round him o'er the dead...")

As the battle progresses, "Suddenly the pope falls...(and) dies. A shout of victory rises from the enemy...but no sooner is the pope dead than another takes his place...Breaking through all resistance, the new pope steers the ship safely between the two columns and moors it to the two columns."

John Bosco's conclusion from this dream was, "Only two things can save us in such a grave hour: devotion to Mary and frequent communion."

The conclusion I come to is John Bosco did not believe in Jesus Christ! Bosco was once complimented for his work, and his reply was, "I have done nothing by myself. It is Our Lady who has done everything." This is idolatry - the Catholic Church was guilty of Mary worship then, and the Catholic Church is guilty of Mary worship today. 2 Timothy 4:4 speaks of a time when, "THEY SHALL TURN THEIR EARS AWAY FROM THE TRUTH, AND SHALL BE TURNED UNTO FABLES," and this dream is an example of a fable the BIBLE predicted.

We have a choice - to trust in the teaching from man's mind - Roman Catholicism, or to trust in the teaching from God's mind - the BIBLE! May many Catholics whose famished souls are tired of the false bread of Rome repent of Romanism and receive Christ by faith ALONE.
