Roman Priests Playing it Safe When Forgiving Sins

The SARS virus is forcing the Catholic priesthood to mock the work of Christ more so than normal. This was reported in a Rueters April 9 story titled, "SARS Forces Catholics to Halt Confessions."

The article reports, "The Roman Catholic Church has suspended confessions in Singapore due to the spread of the deadly SARS virus and priests will instead forgive all churchgoers for their sins...There will be no individual confessions and...they are to issue general forgiveness."

Singapore Archbishop Nicholas Chia said, "I have obtained permission from Rome for our priests to grant general absolution instead of individual confessions and absolutions."

This episode exposes the fact that the Roman priesthood and its claim to be able to forgive sins is nothing but a mockery of Christ's suffering on the cross. Christ was beaten, whipped, and then put on a cross to pay for our sins. Isaiah 53:4 says, "SURELY HE HATH BORNE OUR GRIEFS, AND CARRIED OUR SORROWS: YET WE DID ESTEEM HIM STRICKEN, SMITTEN OF GOD, AND AFFLICTED."

Jesus Christ had to endure the cross to be able to forgive sins, yet mere creatures, these priestly imposters, feel they can safely stand back, wave their fat, soft hands and say, "I absolve thee." Does anything rob Christ of His glory more than the Roman priesthood? I trow not!

Catholic teaching calls every priest an 'alter Christus,' in English - 'another Christ.' But the book that gives Catholic priests indigestion, the bible, says in Matthew 8:17b, "HIMSELF (Christ) TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES, AND BARE OUR SICKNESSES." It appears that these Catholic Christ-impersonators in Singapore are falling a little short!

May the Spirit of our Lord show many people that every Catholic priest is really a 'falsus Christus,' a 'false Christ.' May many Catholics reject their priestly hireling, and receive the real Christ by faith ALONE.
