The Benefits of a Catholic Education

Seton Hall University, a Catholic university in South Orange, New Jersey, has financially benefited from the big donations of certain alumni who just happened to be engaged in corporate fraud, and even names buildings after such crooked, rich, contributing alumni as:

The Brennan Recreation Center. First Jersey Securities Chairman Robert Brennan in 1987 was ordered to pay $71.5 million for defrauding clients by manipulating penny stock schemes. The judge in the case said Brennan was, "Completely without remorse." Brennan was probably saving his remorse for the confessional!!

More recently -

The Walsh Library. Frank Walsh, Jr., a former Tyco board member, is presently, "Being sued by Tyco for breach of fiduciary responsibility for receiving $20 million from Kozlowski (the CEO) without the board's approval," according to an article titled, "Seton's Hall of Shame," in the September 30 issue of 'BusinessWeek.'

Kozlowski Hall. Dennis Kozlowski was removed as CEO of Tyco earlier this year, and according to the same 'BusinessWeek' article is, "Charged with running a criminal enterprise that looted more than $600 million from shareholders."

'BusinessWeek' reported that, "A Seton Hall spokeswoman says there are no plans to remove the names (from the buildings)." Being a Catholic institution, Seton Hall continues to act like nothing has happened. In the face of all this, a September 20 school press release announced, "Striving to have INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM (emphasis mine) permeate every aspect of academic life, Seton Hall University's Stillman School of Business is holding its annual UNDERGRADUATE INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM Student Convocation...in KOZLOWSKI HALL." I wonder if Dennis will be attending or speaking?

And the Seton Hall sports teams are named the "Pirates." How appropriate.

May God's Spirit grant many in Catholic schools repentance from Catholicism, and faith in Christ ALONE.

Christ Not Good Enough for Cleveland Bishop

The cultic nature of Roman Catholicism was evidenced in a recent column by Bishop Anthony Pilla titled, "Embracing the Cross is the Call of the Church," in the September 13 issue of the 'Catholic Universe Bulletin,' the newspaper of the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio.

One mark of a cult is that it loves to add to the work of Christ, and Christ ALONE is certainly not sufficient for Bishop Pilla. Here are some examples of what "his excellency" wrote (certain words are emphasized):

1. "This weekend we observe the feasts of the Triumph of the Cross AND OUR LADY of Sorrows...We revere the suffering of Jesus AND MARY because of the manor in which THEY make THEIR suffering redemptive."

2. "Our faith teaches us that to suffer like Jesus under his cross OR MARY in her heart is the life experience most likely to draw us into union with the Kingdom of God."

3. "When we experience suffering like that of Jesus AND MARY we frequently pray first and most that it might end."

4. "None of that hope for the future should prevent us from standing in our pain and standing in it as did Jesus AND MARY."

It is blasphemy to equate the suffering of Christ on the cross for our sins with the suffering of any other creature!! Christ is denied every time someone says, "Jesus AND," "Jesus OR," or when words like "THEY" and "THEIR" are used to co-mingle the work of sinful man with the work of the sinless Christ.

May God protect His born again children from the ecumenical overtures of a Christ-denying Roman Church.

Wanna Go To Italy?

Bishop James Griffin of Columbus, Ohio, is subjecting readers of his diocesan newspaper, the 'Catholic Times,' to a horrible nine-week series of columns describing his trip to Italy this summer with 39 "pilgrims." It's a travelogue at its worst, and Catholics of central Ohio are week-by-week enduring such vital trip tidbits as:

Leave your car at St. Matthews. It's near the Columbus, Ohio airport.

The tour coach driver was named Geno.

One day they had a lunch of tomatoes and mozzarella cheese soaked in olive oil.

They visited a leather goods factory near Santa Croce.

They saw the chapel where the "original San Damiano crucifix" is located.

A taxi driver named Nonni got Bishop Griffin out of Rome despite the fact that 300,000 people were in Rome for the canonization of Padre Pio (real name Francesco Forgione).

The bishop should have "unvested" more quickly once after a Mass, because the "pilgrims" had left the church without him!

And of course, there was the requisite "audience" with the pope. Griffin described, "The thrill that our pilgrims received from being in the presence of the Holy Father and being so close to this successor of St. Peter and head of our Church."

Griffin betrays in this statement the Catholic rejection of the Christ of the bible by saying the pope is, "head of our Church." The bible teaches Christ Himself is the head of the church. Colossians 1:18 says, "AND HE (Christ) IS THE HEAD OF THE BODY, THE CHURCH." Colossians 2:10 says, "AND YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM (Christ), WHICH IS THE HEAD OF ALL PRINCIPALITY AND POWER."

Catholicism IS Christ-denial. May our Lord grant many Catholics the grace to repent and forsake Romanism, and receive Christ by faith ALONE.

We'll Have a "Gay Old Time"

The Roman Church has been building bridges to the homosexuals outside its priesthood through various diocesan ministries aimed at supporting "gay and lesbian Catholics," and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio, is no exception.

The Cleveland diocese is sponsoring what its September diocesan memorandum calls, 'Emmaus 2002: A Retreat for Gay and Lesbian Catholics,' September 27-29 at a local Jesuit Retreat House. It will be facilitated by a Jesuit priest, a nun, and "a retreat team of gay and lesbian Catholics." (And Catholics wonder why their children get molested!)

The memorandum says, "The retreat has been designed as a celebration and deepening of Catholic faith and sharing among the retreatants." Hmmmm......One can only speculate what a group of queers gathered together for a weekend would be "sharing."

The memorandum did not say if the diocese would provide 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,' or a Judy Garland movie for viewing during the retreat, but they might as well!

The memorandum also noted the price and accomodations for the retreat: "$130 for the weekend includes a private single room and five meals." (I wonder if any of the "retreatants" will ignore the "private single room" proviso?)

May God's Spirit speak to the hearts of these homosexuals, and show them Rome is deceiving them by pampering them IN their sin, whereas the only freedom for a homosexual Catholic can come when they repent and forsake the sin of Romanism and homosexuality, and receive the cleansing from sin that only comes from faith in Christ ALONE.
